Kristen Harris - Bio-sketch

Dr. Kristen M. Harris received her PhD (1982) in Neuroscience from the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School in 1984 and then became a member of the faculty at Harvard Medical School and Children’s Hospital until 1999 when she moved to Boston University and subsequently in 2002 she became a Georgia Research Alliance Eminent Scholar at the Medical College of Georgia where she established the Synapses and Cognitive Neuroscience Center. In 2006, she was recruited to the University of Texas at Austin, where she is currently Professor in Neurobiology and a Fellow in the Center for Learning and Memory. Dr. Harris began her work in Neuroinformatics in 1997 under the auspices of the “Human Brain Project” to develop, populate, and share an ultrastructural database of dendrites, spines, and synapses reconstructed from serial section transmission electron microscopy.
